It might not be long before astronauts are living on the Moon.

That’s what scientists in the UK believe anyway.

Scientists have now developed an energy source that would allow astronauts to live on the Moon for long periods of time.

NASA is already leading a program with the hope of constructing an outpost on the Moon by 2030.

But, if a Moon base is to be established, it will need a reliable energy source. 

So, scientists at Bangor University have designed nuclear fuel cells, the size of poppy seeds, to produce the energy needed to sustain life there.

This development is significant for a few reasons.

The Moon is seen by many as the gateway to Mars.

Not only that, but it contains a lot of valuable resources needed for modern technology.

If astronauts can live on the Moon, they can use it as a springboard to reach the planets beyond.

A world leader in fuels, the Bangor team works with partners such as Rolls-Royce, the UK Space Agency, NASA, and the Los Alamos National Labratory in the US..

Researchers at the university have sent their tiny nuclear fuel cell, known as a Trisofuel, to their partners for testing.

It’s hoped that the Trisofuel cell can be used to power a micro nuclear generator created by Rolls-Royce.

The generator, a portable device the size of a small car, can be stuck on a rocket.

That too is going to be fully tested by being put through forces similar to being blasted up into space.

Last month, India made a historic landing near the Moon’s South Pole with its lunar rover Chandrayaan-3.

One of the mission’s major goals was to hunt for water-based ice which, scientists say, could support human habitation on the Moon in the future.

As well as finding evidence of water, the rover’s laser-induced spectroscope instrument also detected sulphur, aluminum, iron, calcium, chromium, titanium, manganese, oxygen, and silicon on the lunar surface.

Because of this fear, she said she was always prepared for an emergency. 

“If you have an iPhone and you click the power button five times, it goes into an emergency response system,” she said. 

“It says Emergency SOS and if you let it go and don’t press cancel, it automatically calls emergency services. 

“And you can set up your emergency people and it will automatically send them a message that you need help and will send them your location.” 

Shockingly, a bunch of viewers had no idea their phone had this function. 

But some did, and revealed they found out the hard way.

“I did this when I was trying to snooze my alarm and I woke up to the 911 operator,” another said. 

One woman said she unfortunately knew all about the iPhone hack because “my toddler loves this feature”. 

There were also plenty of people pointing out that Android phones had a similar, but slightly different feature.

“Just tested and my Samsung does the same thing,” one said. 

“Androids do the same but there is an insanely loud alarm that goes off at the same time, like crazy loud,” another said. 

If your iPhone doesn’t do this, you can set up the function easily. 

Go to settings, search for Emergency SOS, then turn on ‘call with 5 presses’.

And voila, you’re prepared for a kidnapping or a particularly scary ride at Disney.

An augmentation designer has chosen a third thumb.

Sounds mad – and it looks it too – but it turns out an extra thumb would be pretty useful.

Designer Dani Clode developed a device called the ‘Third Thumb’ as part of a project at the Royal College of Art.

Clode wears the 3D-printed device on the side of the hand opposite her actual thumb near the pinky finger.

She then controls it with pressure sensors attached to her feet on the underside of the big toes.

Connected wirelessly, both toe sensors control different movements of the Third Thumb by immediately responding to subtle changes of pressure from the wearer.

To test the Third Thumb’s capability, a team from University College London were trained to use the device.

This involved focusing on tasks that helped increase the cooperation between their hand and the Third Thumb, such as picking up multiple balls or wine glasses with one hand.

They learned the basics of using the device very quickly, while the training enabled them to successfully improve their motor control, dexterity and hand-thumb coordination.

Participants were even able to use the device when distracted – building a wooden block tower while solving math problems – or while blindfolded.

So, it felt natural super quickly.

The project challenges the conventional idea of prosthetics by considering them as extensions rather than mere replacements.

A video posted to TikTok of the Third Thumb in action shows not everyone’s convinced, though.

“If we were meant to have six fingers, we would’ve been born with six fingers,” one user said.

“We’ve been fine without one for centuries. Why now?” another asked.

“People today don’t even know how to use their brain. What will they do with an extra finger?” another posted.

Some social media users suggested other body parts that would be more useful, like another pair or arms of even a tail.

Perhaps they’re projects for Clode to consider next.

This investor just lost thousands of dollars after accidentally showing his private crypto keys during a livestream. 

The Brazilian influencer Ivan Bianco, who goes by Fraternidade Crypto, has 35,000 followers on YouTube where he live streams blockchain games and advises his followers about crypto investments. 

Unfortunately one of those 35,000 followers took advantage when he accidentally opened up a file on his computer revealing the private keys to all his crypto accounts.

When it comes to crypto wallets, revealing your private crypto keys is like revealing the password to your bank account. 

So, as soon as he realized what he’d done, Bianco shut down the livestream and tried to transfer his funds out of those accounts. 

But he was too late because one of his followers had already infiltrated his account and taken $60,000 worth of crypto from him.

Absolutely devastated, Bianco returned to the platform and begged the thief to return his money. 

“Yesterday was one of the worst days of my life,” he said. 

“I kind of froze at the time, as you see on the video. I started to get bad shaking you know? 

“When I went to transfer the assets, an error sign appeared. I couldn’t believe that I was going through this.” 

Bianco even went to the police to report the theft.

He noted that around 70 people were watching his live stream when he accidentally showed the private keys, and perhaps this would help the police narrow down he list of suspects.

When he returned home and got back online, he got a message from someone asking to talk. 

“I almost told him ‘I can’t talk now, I’m f****d up here,” Bianco said. 

Luckily he did take the call, because the caller admitted he’d taken the money and said he would return it. 

In the end, the caller returned $50,000 of the $60,000 that was taken.

Despite the stress of it all, Bianco said he wanted to take the high road.

“I won’t say his name because the guy returned it and there’s no reason for me to screw him, even though what he did was wrong,” he said. 

The crypto influencer said he was still working to get the remaining $10,000 back from others who infiltrated his accounts.

People are excited about the upcoming iPhone 15 despite the fact the price might rise significantly.

And now they’re divided over a new iPhone 15 feature that some users think is “unfair”.

The upcoming Apple event, dubbed ‘Wonderlust‘, will almost certainly reveal the new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro.

It’s scheduled for September 12 so we’ll find out soon enough, but in the meantime, a disconcerting rumor is making people go mad.

It seems that both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Max are going to be stuck with a 60 Hz refresh rate, as opposed to the 15 Pro and Pro Max’s 120 Hz.

In short, this downgrades the phone’s ability to display a certain type of content.

For example, a YouTube video would be playable with the best possible quality on the iPhone Pro.

But this wouldn’t be possible with the ‘base’, non-Pro models.

Some people aren’t having it.

“I really hope this iPhone 15 rumor isn’t true, you deserve better,” TechRadar’s Alex Walker-Todd said.

“Please Apple – don’t do this to the iPhone 15,” MC’s editor Roland Moore-Coyler added.

And it’s not just industry experts either.

“Nothing justifies the 60hz display on the upcoming iPhone 15,” a Twitter / X user said.

“The only thing that sucks about the iPhone 15 is the 60 Hz refresh rate,” another user wrote.

But not everyone’s concerned.

Other users pointed out that people just don’t care.

“The vast majority of people don’t notice a difference and it gives them limited/no benefit,” a Twitter / X user pointed out.

“Having 60 Hz on a phone is not a dealbreaker for 99 percent of consumers,” Ian Zelbo added.

Either way, we’ll find out soon enough.

India’s space agency has shared incredible new footage of the lunar rover ‘frolicking’ on the Moon. 

Since landing on the Moon’s South Pole last Wednesday, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has been taking us along for an epic ride. 

The agency has shared never-before-seen parts of the Moon and made hugely exciting discoveries.

Now, the ISRO is sharing incredible new footage of the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s little Pragyan rover spinning. 

Taking to X, the ISRO likened the rover to “a child playfully frolicking in the yards of Chandamama, while the mother watches affectionately”. 

Chandamama is an affectionate name for the Moon in Hindi and other regional languages. 

It’s a cute sentiment and a sentence we’ll likely never see posted by NASA.

The footage actually shows the rover rotating in search of a safe route on the Moon’s surface. 

It reportedly needed to find a new path after discovering a huge four-meter-wide crater in the Moon’s surface.

The footage comes just a day after the ISRO shared epic first photos of its Vikram lander. 

The black and white images were taken by the camera on board the little rover.

Since landing on the Moon’s South Pole on August 23, the Chandrayaan-3 mission has made some pretty significant discoveries. 

Aside from the four-meter-wide crater, the ISRO confirmed it discovered sulfur on the Moon. 

Not only that, but several other elements were detected too including aluminum, iron, calcium, chromium, titanium, manganese, oxygen, and silicon. 

The discoveries were actually made while the rover was in search for signs of frozen water. 

The space agency hopes that discovering water on the Moon could help future astronaut missions as a potential source of drinking water or even rocket fuel. 

The Indian Space Research Agency made history last week when it announced it had successfully landed on the Moon’s South Pole. 

In doing so, India became the first country to ever land on the South Pole, and the fourth country to land on the Moon at all. 

Apparently, Elon Musk is going to create an app so drivers can view X on their car screen.

So, you might be able to tweet from the comfort of your Tesla in the near future.

Just imagine that.

The Tesla CEO recently revealed his intentions in a post on the social media platform.

“We will make an app allowing you to see the latest from X on your car screen,” he wrote.

As to be expected, though, many aren’t fond of the idea citing it would be a huge distraction.

And we think they have a point.

It’s been rumored for a long time, but to date Musk hasn’t confirmed the legitimacy of it.

That hasn’t stopped Elon Musk’s parody account on X plugging the illusive Tesla Smartphone.

The person who runs the account has even shared a render of what the phone could look like, and it’s pretty futuristic.

Probably best holding out for the new iPhone when it (finally) arrives.

We finally have a a planned date for the next Apple ‘Wonderlust’ event.

In a few days, with a bit of a luck, we’ll learn when the long-awaited Apple iPhone 15 drops.

And more to the point, we’ll finally find out whether the rumor about the price increase is true.

Like last year, this year’s Apple event will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park in Cupertino, California.

Apple’s September event is (almost) always an iPhone event, which means we’ll finally get to see what the new smartphone looks like.

If the rumors are true, we’ll be introduced to the new 6.1-inch iPhone 15 and the new 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus.

Apple will also unveil the new 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro, and the 6.7-inch ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max.

The latter model is the one everyone’s hyped about chiefly because – rumor has – it it’ll cost (a lot) more than its predecessor.

The ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ is expected to start at $1,099, while the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max should cost $1,199.

On a brighter note, pricing on the standard ‌iPhone 15‌ models is not expected to change.

Whichever model you go for, it’ll be equipped with an updated 5G chip from Qualcomm and a new USB-C port instead of a Lightning port.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will be fitted with a new periscope zoom lens that allows for 5x or even 6x optical zoom, up from 3x.

Visually, the new iPhone is expected to look a bit more like the original iPhone, with smoother edges and slimmer bezels.

Also, the Pro models will have a titanium frame instead of a stainless steel frame.

While the Apple event will mostly focus on the new iPhone, we also expect Tim Cook to unveil the new Apple Watch Series 9 and also a new version of the Ultra.

Wonderlust is scheduled for September 12 at 10 AM Pacific Time.

The event will be live streamed on the Apple Website and on YouTube.

You might be surprised to learn that Apple actually wants your screen time to go down.

Famous for inventing some of the most addictive technology the world has ever seen, Apple CEO Time Cook has stated he doesn’t want people using their devices ‘too much’.

Recent studies show that the average person spends around 6 hours and 37 minutes a day looking at a screen.

This is up 49 minutes since 2013 and accounts for about 30% of your day.

It’s no secret that too much screen time has a negative effect on humans, with excessive screen use being linked to sleep deprivation, obesity, delayed learning in children, and even type 2 diabetes.

While it may feel like tech giants don’t take this into consideration when designing their compelling software and gadgets, Cook doesn’t want his customer’s screen time to continuously go up.

“We’re not incentivized for that,” he said.

“We try to get people tools in order to help them put the phone down.”

One of the tools he swears by is Screen Time, the weekly report that shows users exactly how much time they spent on each of their phone’s apps that week.

“My philosophy is, if you’re looking at the phone more than you’re looking in somebody’s eyes, you’re doing the wrong thing,” says Cook. 

Apple’s Screen Time feature also allows users to place limits on device usage, downloads and content – a function increasingly sought out by parents in the digital age.

“Kids are born digital, they’re digital kids now,” Cook continued. 

“And it is, I think, really important to set some hard rails around it.”

It’s unusual for a Big Tech CEO to encourage customers to spend less time with their products, even going so far as to create the Screen Time function.

But Cook is famous for his out-of-the-ordinary approach to life, which has helped solidify Apple’s place as one of the most innovative tech companies ever created.

“We didn’t make the phone so you’ll use it all the time,” he explained. 

“We made the phone to make your life better.”

The new Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max will likely rise in price by $200, new data reveals.

Rumors hint that the iPhone 15 Pro could set you back $1,099, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max costing $1,299.

This would make the latter $200 more expensive than the previous iPhone Pro 14 Max.

The Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature a USB-C port, an action button, up to 2TB of storage, a larger battery, and the A17 Bionic chip paired with 8GB of RAM.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Ku, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will also be the first in the line to have a periscope zoom camera. 

But this isn’t the only reason why the iPhone 15 Pro Max will likely rise in price. 

Based on sources from Apple’s supply chain, Ming-Chi Ku estimates the iPhone 15 Pro Max will make up 35% to 40% of new iPhone shipments.

The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone Pro combined will make up 60% to 65% of new orders. 

And iPhones continue to sell incredibly well despite fears around the economy and a slowdown in smartphone sales overall.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max has been the best-selling smartphone since the first half of 2023.

Apple’s competitors are dying for their products to hold such recognition in the smartphone world, but they’re not there yet.

Even the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the sixth-bestselling smartphone in the first half of 2023, didn’t make a dent in iPhone sales. 

The iPhone 14 Pro Max sold almost three times more units than the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Interestingly, Samsung can’t even outsell the iPhone in South Korea.

This might be the real reason why the price of the iPhone is rising. 

Apple knows that iPhone fans will keep coming back to the product, no matter what. 

The iPhone 15 Pro Max won’t be more expensive because Apple has to supply these new features, it’ll be more expensive because people will pay more.
