So, to avoid spending his $1,850 monthly salary on a dingy rental apartment, Marshall looked for alternatives.Ā
And thatās how he ended up calling a dumpster home.Ā
This isnāt just your run-of-the-mill dumpster though, Marshall turned it into a legit home with a real bed and everything.Ā
Marshall invested about $5,000 and dedicated three weeks to building the tiny home.
Using the dumpster as the base, Marshall constructed a timber frame on top, clad with cedar shingles to make it watertight.Ā
Meanwhile, the interior is clad in plywood sheets and the roofing is made from recycled plastic and aluminum.Ā
Inside, Marshall has a tiny fridge, a tap and sink, an induction cooktop, and a bed.Ā
The bed is up a small ladder, with a window for ventilation and enough room to sit up.Ā
The 28-year-old admits āitās a bit awkward to climb upā to the bed and the āfridge is tiny, almost pointlessā but he makes it work.
While he doesnāt have a bathroom inside the skip house, he has a portaloo on site and uses the showers at his gym or work (which is just a 10-minute bike ride away).Ā
Marshall told supercarblondie.com there were āof course some inconveniencesā especially now it was getting warmer, ābut overall itās pretty niceā.Ā

Oh, and to prevent any thefts, Marshall also has a Ring Doorbell Camera set up at the front of the dumpster.Ā
So, dumpster divers beware.Ā
