A new supersonic jet could be taking to the skies in the not too distant future.

Boom Supersonic’s XB-1 experimental prototype has undergone extensive ground testing over the past few months.

Fast approaching the final stages of testing, the prototype’s set to take its first test flight before the end of the year.

The testing is helping ready the aviation company’s Overture aircraft, dubbed the “Son of Concorde”, for its first flight in 2029.

Apparently, Overture will be able to fly passengers from the United Kingdom to the United States in just three and a half hours.

The jet, which features four engines and a new fuselage, will be able to fly at supersonic speeds of up to 1,304 miles per hour.

To be precide, the aircraft will cruise at Mach 1.7 over water and just under Mach 1 over land.

The new supersonic jet won’t just fly between the UK and US, though.

More than 600 routes have been planned fro Oveture across the globe.

Last year, American Airlines confirmed its partnership with the company to create aircraft that could travel at “2x the speed of today’s fastest commercial jets”.

“Aviation has not seen a giant leap in decades,” Boom founder and CEO Blaske Scholl previously said in a statement.

“Overture is revolutionary in its design, and it wil fundamentally change how we think about distance,” he added.

It goes without saying, test-flkying the prototype is an important milestone for the company, which has ambitions of developing both sustainable and supersonic flights.

“I believe in a future where more people go more places,” Scholl recently told Yahoo.

“Think about crossing the Atlantic in under four hours, leaving the East Coast in the morning, and making it to a dinner meeting in Europe on the same day,” he added.

“Think about being able to do a rountrip to Asia in 24 hours.”

A company called DEEP is planning to build an underwater base where researchers could live for weeks.

And don’t be tricked into thinking this is just another soulless base, either.

The interior of the underwater base actually looks like it belongs to a luxury hotel.

The underwater base would be built roughly 660 feet (200 meters) underwater, and it would be located off the coast of Wales in the UK.

DEEP actually gave the base a name – they call it the ‘Sentinel’.

The Sentinel would serve as an exploratory base where scientists could study marine and creatures that live 200 meters below the surface.

The multi-story base would reserve one level to living accommodation for scientists that live there.

Each ‘room’ features a single bed with storage built in to the frame, a small side table, and a private bathroom with a shower and sink.

You know how airplane bathrooms sometimes look like they were carved from a single block of plastic?

Same basic idea, but more spacious and more comfortable.

Another level would be devoted to the kitchen, a dining area, and a living room with portholes through which you can admire the sea floor.

Lastly, there’s another level that’s dedicated to work.

This is where the magic, apologies we mean science, happens.

DEEP says the atmosphere of the base is designed for researchers but it is also ready for one-day visits from media professionals and academics without diving qualifications.

Obviously, due to factors relating to sunlight, oxygen and underwater pressure, the maximum amount of time anyone is allowed to live there would be 28 days.

After 28 days, the entire crew would go back to the surface, and they would be replaced by a different group of scientists for another 28 days.

Rinse and repeat.

This Italian businessman makes eight figures a year making sandwiches.

It all started with one sandwich shop, and now he’s expanded the business with a bunch of new locations, including two in the United States.

It sounds like one of those ‘American Dream’ stories, except it happened in Italy.

His name is Tommaso Mazzanti and his sandwich shop is called ‘All’Antico Vinaio‘.

What started out as a small sandwich shop in the center of Florence has now ballooned into a multi-million dollar business.

In addition to six shops in his native Italy, there’s one in New York City and another in Los Angeles.

And there’s no crazy secret behind it, he’s literally just making sandwiches.

Sure, Mazzanti is definitely on top of his game when it comes to marketing but still, it’s all about those sandwiches.

Revenue-wise, the business generates eight figures each year.

“We did $25 million in 2022. This year, with the US market, we’re projecting around $43 million”, Mazzanti said in a podcast.

Mazzanti bought a Lamborghini Urus SUV to celebrate the opening of the US locations and had it customized with a crazy neon yellow wrap courtesy of Evosound Custom.

As standard, the Lamborghini Urus starts at around $235,000.

And you probably need to add a few thousand dollars on top of that for the wrap and the new wheels.

Can’t go wrong with a fluorescent wrap on a Lambo, can you?

Speaking to Supercarblondie.com, Mazzanti said the Urus was probably a one-off present to himself because he planned to invest every dollar he could in his sandwiches.

“[The Lamborghini Urus] was a bit of a treat, but apart than that, every dollar goes back into the business,” he said.

A privately-owned airline is giving away free seats in a massive flash sale that’s only going to last for 24 hours.

Travelers will have the chance to book international flights starting from $0 – literally zero dollars.

The airline in question is called VietJet, and is essentially Vietnam’s response to the likes of Ryanair, Wizzair or FlyDubai.

This explains part of the reasoning behind this incredible sale.

Low-cost airlines do flash sales all the time but this is something else.

We’ve seen $10, $5 or even $1 tickets before, but no other airline has ever offered $0 airfares in the past.

Also, the airline is based out of Vietnam but the flash sale applies to international destinations as well.

Among others, VietJet flies to Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, Australia and Malaysia.

If you’re thinking there must be a catch, well, you’re not entirely wrong.

Unfortunately, while the fare is indeed free, you’re still required to cover the cost of those pesky taxes and airport fees.

They vary depending on the airline you’re using, the airport you’re flying from and so on, but the good news is we’re not talking about a huge amount, usually between $20 and $50.

Even though VietJet is a low-cost airline, it does offer a certain level of luxury to customers who are willing to pay a bit more.

In addition to the base fare and the ‘Deluxe’ fare, the airline also has something called the ‘SkyBoss’ fare.

It includes checked baggage up to 50 kg, free access to luxury lounge and a private shuttle bus to the plane.

The 24-hour flash sale starts on September 9 one minute after midnight.

The thought of getting trapped in a car underwater is enough to give you cold sweats. 

Fortunately, car sinking accidents are far less common than road accidents.

But that doesn’t mean knowing what to do to escape the situation wouldn’t come in useful.

Thankfully, a woman has posted a rather handy video to TikTok showing exactly what you need to do. 

In the video, Chequanxiaoqiao says there are three things to bear in mind to quickly get out of danger.

First and foremost, forget your valuables – time’s precious.

Before the water starts overflowing the car’s windows, you should try and open the door to escape.

But, if the water’s already overflowed the window, you’re not going to be able to open the door due to the water pressure.

The car’s electronics probably won’t work either, as they will have short-circuited due to water ingress.

That’s why Chequanxiaoqiao suggests breaking the window and escaping quickly.

You won’t be able to break the glass by kicking it, though, as it’s far too hard.

Instead, she recommends removing a headrest and inserting the sharp part into the corner of the window.

If you pry it up hard enough, it should cause it to shatter, and you can then use the headrest to punch away the broken glass.

Her next tip is what to do when the car’s fully filled with water.

With the water pressure the same inside as it is outside the car, she suggests taking a quick breath and opening the door to escape.

If the door cannot be opened, it’s her third tip you’re going to need to implement.

Because the engine is at the front of the car – unless you drive a supercar of course – its the heaviest part which will sink first.

That’s why she suggests climbing into the back of the car where you need to put down the rear seat and climb into the trunk.

Usually, located somewhere in the truck is a switch which can be operated to manually open it from the inside.

Obviously, you need to know where this switch is located, so it’s probably best to familiairse yourself first.

Fingers crossed you never have to use any of these methods, but they’re handy to know should you find yourself in a sticky situation.

Ramin Dja parked his car at the Frankfurt Airport in Germany before flying overseas.  

When he returned to Germany after a longer-than-expected trip, he wasn’t just greeted by the cold weather.

Realizing his mistake, Ramin hesitantly films himself as he redeems the parking ticket, knowing full well he’s in for an unpleasant surprise. 

And when the number flashes up on the screen, it doesn’t disappoint. 

In fact, it’s so big that a lot of people might be tempted to just walk away, ditch their car and buy a new one.

When he inserted his ticket, he learned he owed an eye-watering €12,967.50. 

That’s about USD $14,000 just for parking. 

You could buy a brand new Chevrolet Spark, Mitsubishi Mirage or Nissan Versa for that kind of money. 

But we don’t think this driver’s going to opt for that because the car he left at the airport was actually far far more expensive than that. 

Ramin Dja parked his Rolls-Royce at the airport and says he totally forgot about it. 

Imagine that, forgetting where you parked your Rolls-Royce. 

Unsurprisingly, the ticket price had people’s jaws on the floor. 

“About 1.5k a month, you can rent an apartment for that price,” one said. 

“Time to pull the fire alarm and get out while they panic to evacuate everyone,” another said.

Others actually left some pretty helpful advice. 

“Click ‘I lost my ticket’, and you’ll pay €15,” they said. 

Another said the same, telling him he should “say you’ve lost your ticket and pay a full day”,” another said. “.

One viewer offered a suggestion for how to get out of paying for the ticket altogether.

“Bro, just go get a new ticket then use that to get out, it’s free,” they said. 

Others weren’t too concerned for the driver given what he was driving. 

“With a Rolls-Roce I think 12k is not a big issue,” they said. 

This is what British holidaymakers have to look forward to in the near future.

Thanks to its distinctive shape, the airship has earned the nickname ‘Flying Bum’.

While the inner child in us finds that absolutely hilarious, we’ll stick to using its official name, the Airlander 10.

Billed as the world’s largest aircraft, Airlander 10 is the same length as a football pitch (300ft).

Not only that, but it’s the height of six double-decker buses, too.

In order to take to the skies, the helium airship flies using both aerostatic and aerodynamic lift.

Added power comes via a set of diesel-engine propellers.

Currently being built by British manufacturer Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV), the elliptical-shaped airship is expected to launch in 2026.

And tourists heading to Majorca, Ibiza and Menorca can look forward to experiencing a new level of luxury.

Airlander 10 features a spacious passenger cabin suspended beneath an aerodynamic, helium-filled balloon.

Costing $50 million, the part-plane, airship can reportedly land on ‘’virtually any surface”.

Not only that, but Airlander 10 can take off from either a field or water, without the need for traditional infrastructure like ports or airports.

That’s what makes it ideal for short-haul flights from the UK to Spain’s popular islands.

Air Nostrum airline group already has 10 examples of the hybrid airship that were originally built for the US military.

But over the last decade, they’ve been re-assembled and designed for civilian use in the UK.

Now the airline has doubled its order of Airlander 10s to create a fleet of 20 to expand its push into the Med, focusing on the Balearic islands.

Apparently, the latest version of Airlander 10 is capable of staying in the air for five days straight while unmanned, and over two weeks while manned.

HAV plans to produce at least 12 aircraft per year, with a fully-electric version being available by 2030.

Adam Driver stars as Enzo Ferrari in Michael Mann’s upcoming biopic ‘Ferrari‘.

The irony is the 39-year-old Hollywood star was actually not actually allowed to drive a Ferrari sports car while filming the movie.

Ferrari is famously super fastidious when it comes to who can do what with its cars.

That’s why we often hear about this or that celebrity being banned or blacklisted by the brand.

However, for once, Ferrari’s unique policy didn’t play a part in the whole thing.

The movie is set in 1957 and it only features cars from that era.

To say that those cars are tricky to get your hands on, let alone drive, would be an understatement.

The producers were simply too worried about the cars, and more importantly about Adam Driver’s safety, to take that risk.

The Academy-nominated actor himself explained what happened behind the scenes at a press conference for the film at the 80th Venice Film Festival.

“They were the scariest things on set, but they wouldn’t let me drive the cars for insurance reasons,” Adam Driver said.

However, not everyone on set was barred from driving the cars.

Former Grey’s Anatomy star and known car enthusiast Patrick Dempsey had the chance to get behind the wheel of some of the 1950s Ferraris featured in the movie.

“It was quite terrifying. Driving a modern car you have a roll cage, but there was no cage with these cars,” Dempsey said.

So why could Dempsey get behind the wheel while Adam Driver couldn’t?

Well, 57-year-old Dempsey is a bona fide racing driver in real life.

He has his own racing team, called Dempsey-Proton, and he’s competed in a variety of racing events, including the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Talk about method acting.

India has just put its Moon lander to sleep. 

After two hugely successful weeks on the Moon, India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission is coming to an end. 

But not without one final experimental stunt.

The Indian Space Research Oranization (ISRO) took to X to share the news that its Vikram Lander successfully pulled off a “hop experiment”, 

What exactly is this? 

“On comment, it fired the engines, elevated itself by about 40 cm as expected and landed safely at a distance of 30-40 cm away,” the ISRO said. 

It might not sound super exciting but it is. 

The Indian space agency says this ‘kick-start’ experiment proves all systems are healthy and means they can move towards manned missions to the Moon. 

Following this, the Vikram Moon Lander was set to sleep mode. 

“Vikram will fall asleep next to Pragyan once the solar power is depleted and the battery is drained,” the ISRO said. 

“Hoping for their awakening around September 22, 2023.”

Since landing on the Moon’s South Pole on August 23, the ISRO has made some hugely exciting discoveries. 

Aside from an impressive four-meter-wide crater, the agency confirmed it discovered sulfur on the Moon. 

Not only that, but several other elements were detected too including aluminum, iron, calcium, chromium, titanium, manganese, oxygen, and silicon. 

The discoveries were actually made while the rover was in search for signs of frozen water.

The Indian Space Research Agency made history when it announced it had successfully landed on the Moon’s South Pole. 

In doing so, India became the first country to ever land on the South Pole, and the fourth country to land on the Moon at all. 

A skate shop in Hawaii is requiring customers to complete some crazy stunts in order to buy a rare iteration of the Nike Dunk sneakers.

They’re asking customers to do two things to ‘qualify’ for the purchase, and one of them is far from easy.

The sought-after Nike Dunk in question was created in partnership with Yuto Horigome, a famous Japanese skateboarder.

For that reason, in order to buy the shoes, the skate shop is asking customers to do a skateboarding trick on the spot.

“To purchase a pair from us you will be required to first land a kickfip on your own skateboard with the shoes you show up here wearing,” a statement from the shop’s website reads.

For reference, a kickflip is a skateboarding trick in which the rider flips the skateboard 360 degrees.

And that’s not the end of the story.

If you buy the shoes, you’re required to put them on in front of the store and walk a few steps.

In other words, you have to be ready to scuff them up a little bit to prove you’re not going to sell them straight away.

“Be prepared to wear them out of our shop after your purchase”, the statement further explained.

It may sound a bit extreme but this is just one component of the coordinated attempt from retailers and companies to clamp down on resellers.

The sneaker market has gone totally mad in recent years, and people regularly buy sneakers to sell for a profit.

Major brands have been filing lawsuits left and right to combat reselling and small businesses are doing something about it as well.

Put simply, the skate shop in question just wants to make sure the buyer is actually going to wear the Yuto Horigome Nike Dunk, not just buy them to resell them the next day.
