Some people think the footage is so unbelievable that it was created by CGI.

The Cybertruck is probably North America’s biggest stalking victim right now.

Everywhere it goes, there are eagle-eyed fans with their phones out capturing its every move.

Now, the Tesla pickup truck has been filmed doing a U-Turn in a tight suburban cul-de-sac, and even that’s going viral on X.

Posted to YouTube by mignoramus, the videographer follows the Cybertruck as it cruises along a busy highway in Santa Clara, California.

The videographer then follows it closely as it makes a bunch of turns through suburban streets, before finding itself at a dead-end.

It’s the next part of the footage that made its way to X and has since gone viral.

The Cybertruck driver makes a tight left u-turn in the cul-de-sac, showing off the truck’s turning radius.

And for a truck this big, it’s actually pretty impressive.

One viewer even described it as “Alien technology”.

“That rear wheel steer is going to be a lifesaver for that big vehicle in some of these suburbs,” another said.

Some even thought the footage looked so unrealistic it must have been created by CGI.

“This has to be CGI,” one man said.

“It looks so fake. CGI in real life,” another said.

The Cybertruck’s turning circle is proving to be one of the most anticipated features of the EV.

Last month, separate footage of the Cybertruck doing a U-Turn was described as “gangster”

“Never seen a vehicle of this size do this so nimbly!” Raj said.

The video went viral, amassing 760,000 views and more than 2,500 likes.

“Incredible how easy and smooth that seems,” one guy said.

“Four-wheel steering in action! This will also make parking in the garage easier!” another said.

The final specs and pricing are expected to be revealed at Tesla’s delivery event, but we don’t have a date for that yet.

Nor do we have an official release date for the truck.

Or a price.

The Tesla Cybertruck has been spotted being used as a real working man’s truck.

Yep, despite being ridiculed by Ford’s CEO as a fad for “Silicon Valley people” and not “for real people who do real work”, the truck has been spotted hauling actual tools.

READ MORE! Tesla Cybertruck isn’t ‘for real people who do real work’: Ford CEO

The image, which was posted to X by The EV Guy, shows the Cybertruck with a lawnmower, cooler, and a bunch of other practical tools for the ‘real man’.

True Tesla Cybertruck fans were stoked to see it apparently proving the naysayers wrong.

“Going to be super funny when all the nerds who think this is a weird fashion accessory see people going down the street with their trucks loaded with trash and yard debris,” OgreTruck said.

Others saw it as little more than a well-thought-out stunt from Tesla.

“A bunch of lawn chars.. and apparently it’s a truck,” one guy said.

As hype continues to build for the truck, X is getting spammed with sightings of it right across North America.

The truck was just photographed waiting at a red light in Palo Alto alongside a group of other popular cars, giving us a brand-new size comparison.

Next to a Tesla Model 3, Mini Cooper, and Mazda, the Cybertruck looks legitimately massive.

Not only does it tower over all the other cars in height, but it’s significantly longer too.

It comes after photos were leaked showing the Cybertruck parked next to a Ford F-250.

With competition between Tesla and Ford at an all-time high, the photo caused quite a stir when it popped up online.

“It’s hilarious to me that people think the bed on the Cybertruck is small when it’s simply an optical illusion. The Cybertruck bed is 6ft plus,” one man said.

“The Cybertruck has much more room because it doesn’t need to have a motor in the front. Also, it has a great approach angle for off-roading,” another said.

“The Cybertruck might be a tad shorter. There’s a massive amount of room inside the Ford SD crew cab, I’m anticipating the Cybertruck cab to be more the size of an F150,” said a third.

"My heart is, like, beating fast!"

self driving Tesla

TikToker Brandon Dierickx shared Tesla’s self-driving experience with his mother and her reaction is priceless.

She can hardly believe what’s going on.

READ MORE: Elon Musk is offering free Tesla Superchargers for all electric cars

The clip starts with Brandon’s mother at the wheel of the self driving Tesla, which is actually a figure of speech because she does not, in fact, need to keep her hands on the wheel.

The steering wheel, by the way, is Tesla’s infamous yoke.

The car takes off and Brandon tells him mum to not “touch the gas”, to which she asks whether the car “is gonna stop?”

Good question, we’d be worried about that, too.

Her heart rate goes up when the self driving Tesla takes on a corner, which it can do without any issues at all. “My heart is, like, beating fast,” she says.

We can’t blame her, to be frank.

Tesla first launched its self-driving system, dubbed ‘Autopilot‘, over 10 years ago.

While the early version of Autopilot was basically just a glorified cruise control, the latest upgrade gives it Level 3 and Level 4 self-driving abilities.

And Tesla is working to take it to Level 5.

To clarify, the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) defines six levels of driving automation ranging from Level 0, ie fully manual, to Level 5, which means the car is fully autonomous.

Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Capability (FSD), which is currently in Beta, is Level 4, meaning the car can complete an entire journey without the driver.

Tesla’s Autopilot is not available in certain regions due to regulatory reasons but, as you can see from the clip, it sort of works.

In fact, Elon Musk believes Tesla owners could actually use their cars as robotaxis in the future.

Then again, as ever with Musk, we’d probably take his words with a pinch of salt.

Introducing the brand-new Mercedes Concept CLA Class https://supercarblondie.com/mercedes-benz-concept-cla-class/ Sun, 03 Sep 2023 18:00:00 +0000 https://supercarblondie.com/?p=58745 Mercedes Concept CLA Class front

It even runs on a Mercedes-made operating system.

Mercedes Concept CLA Class front

This is the new Mercedes-Benz Concept CLA Class, an all-electric prototype that opens a new era for the brand.

And everything you see here, from the powertrain down to the operating system of the sat nav, is made in-house.

READ MORE: Mercedes-Maybach takes EVs to crazy new level of luxury

Mercedes calls this a ‘hypermiler’.

This is because thanks to its 800V architecture, the car is capable of driving for 750 km (466 miles) on a charge.

More importantly, it only takes 15 minutes to go from 0 to 248 miles of range.

Exceedingly long charging times are still one of the main issues with EVs, and this puts the CLA in a Class of its own.

Pun intended.

Now, this is a concept car so some of the visual cues you see here might be gone by the time the production version is here.

However, the new low-energy LED lights with the animated star pattern and the expansive glass roof are here to stay.

Mercedes says this is part of a new design language we can expect to see with many of its upcoming models.

Inside, there are two key features we need to talk about.

First, there’s a new infotainment system that runs on an operating system that Mercedes patented.

They call it MB.OS and it integrates artificial intelligence.

Second, and most important of all, Mercedes came up with a new safety feature called Child Presence Detection, or CPD for short.

It mitigates risk of children being left in the vehicle by mistake when it’s too hot outside.

The Concept CLA Class, the name gives it away, is first and foremost a preview of what the next-gen CLA will look like.

However, the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) is built on will also be used on a swathe of future models.

So stay tuned.

Tesla reveals all new Model 3 with first major refresh in 6 years https://supercarblondie.com/tesla-new-model-3/ Fri, 01 Sep 2023 10:18:17 +0000 https://supercarblondie.com/?p=58714 new Model 3 feature image

More than 50% of the Model 3's components are new.

The post Tesla reveals all new Model 3 with first major refresh in 6 years appeared first on Supercar Blondie.]]>
new Model 3 feature image

What you’re looking at here is the all new Model 3, with upgraded looks and improved range.

This is Tesla’s first major refresh in six years.

READ MORE: You can now get a Tesla Model Y for cheaper than the average car

The all new Model 3 features a redesigned front end, with smoother edges and slimmer headlamps.

The wheels are new as well.

The same design principles apply at the back, with (much) thinner taillights and a redesigned bumper that makes the car looks less boxy.

Tesla says this is more than just vanity, because the new body is apparently a lot more aerodynamic.

And this of course makes the car faster and more efficient in terms of range.

For the aerodynamically minded out there, the new drag coefficient is 0.219, down from 0.23.

In plain English, this means you now get a boost in range of about 40 miles.

The rear-wheel-drive Model 3 has a range of 344 miles (553 km), up from 305, while the Long Range can now go 421 miles (677 km) on a charge, up from 394.

And the design upgrades aren’t minor.

Inside, you’ve got a brand-new steering wheel, new wireless chargers for your phone and three charging ports with a new 8-inch rear display.

As for the main display, the 15.4-inch touchscreen on the dashboard is now more responsive and brighter.

Performance-wise, you’re looking at 245 horsepower for the base model and 351 horsepower for the Long Range.

Mind you, even the base model does 0-60 mph (100 km/h) in just 6 seconds, and we wouldn’t call it slow.

Tesla doesn’t do facelifts as often as other brands do, they usually just do over-the-air updates.

But this is different because the company claims that more than 50 per cent of the new Model 3’s components are new.

Tesla is so proud of this update it even gave it a name, they call it ‘Project Highland’.

The company hasn’t said anything about pricing yet, but there’s reason to be optimistic on that front.

After all, Tesla keeps slashing prices across the board, and even the range-topping Model S Plaid is cheaper than ever before.

With that in mind, and a bit of luck, the all new Model 3 should still start around $40,000 like the old model.

And that’s before you include the $7,500 Federal tax credit.

New footage is giving us our best look yet at the Cybertruck’s frunk.

The footage appears to have been taken secretly as Tesla employees loaded a number of Cybertrucks onto the back of a Tesla Semi.

After sharing it to X, it’s now getting fans of the truck even more riled up.

In the video, which is just a few seconds long, we see a couple of employees standing in front of the frunk and checking it out.

And using the three men as a size comparison, the frunk looks pretty huge.

“Lucky to see the frunk, it should be very useful,” @KewellXi said alongside their footage.

X / Twitter

“That’s a good size frunk,” one guy said, while another described it as “the widest frunk in the industry”.

“The frunk does look bigger here, very wide,” another said.

“Did you get arrested after? Lol this is some savage findings,” said a third.

With two men appearing to hold the frunk open in the video, it also suggests the truck, or this particular vehicle at least, lacks struts or springs to hold it open.

The footage comes just days after a drone captured employees closing and taping the frunk on the back of a lorry.

“Why are these folks being so cautious with the Cybertruck frunk?” one X user asked.

“Fragile materials? Disconnected latch electronics?”

The post prompted some speculation, with people guessing that the frunks needed to be taped down because Tesla perhaps hadn’t finalized the build yet.

There were different theories thrown out there too.

“Seems like maybe the latches aren’t working properly, it’s strange they all seem to be taped,” one said.

“I’m going with disconnected electronics. Looks like pushing against electronic hydraulics,” another said.

The Cybertruck has been spotted on the back of lorry trucks right across North America, suggesting Elon Musk is close to the big launch.

The final specs and pricing are expected to be revealed at the delivery event, but we don’t have a date for that yet.

Nor do we have an official release date for the truck or a price.

Tesla drastically drops prices of hugely popular versions of Model S and X https://supercarblondie.com/tesla-price-cuts/ Fri, 01 Sep 2023 08:08:59 +0000 https://supercarblondie.com/?p=58704

We're used to Tesla slashing prices across its range but this time they're taking it seriously.

The post Tesla drastically drops prices of hugely popular versions of Model S and X appeared first on Supercar Blondie.]]>

Elon Musk is feeling particularly generous these days and continues to lower prices for all Tesla Models.

The Model S and Model X are now cheaper than ever before after the new price cuts.

If he keeps going at this rate, we’re going to have a Tesla that’s cheaper than a Dacia.

READ MORE: Hackers figure out how to jailbreak Tesla to get pricey in-car upgrades without paying

Tesla fiddles with price tags across its line-up like no other brand.

According to Elon Musk, this is part of the brand’s strategy to deliver more units, prioritizing sales over over profit.

With the new price cuts, the Model S Long Range is now priced at $74,990 (it was $88,490), while the Model S Plaid ‘only’ costs $89,900 (it was $108,490).

The price drop on the Model X is even greater than that.

The Model X Long Range is now $79,990, nearly $20,000 cheaper than before.

Meanwhile the Model X Plaid costs $89,990, whereas it used to be $108,490.

There’s more good news for Tesla buyers because the Model X is also eligible for the $7,500 tax credit.

Elon Musk had a bit of a row with the Internal Revenue Service agency (IRS) over this.

Musk routinely gets in trouble with US institutions but his irritation was, for once, entirely justified.

The IRS initially stated the Model X and Model Y wouldn’t qualify for the tax credit.

This is because the agency claimed they were not SUVs, even though they’re categorized as SUVs by another government agency.

Then the IRS changed its mind and announced the 7-seater would get the tax credit, but the 5-seater wouldn’t.

After significant backlash from both Musk and Tesla owners, the IRS caved and included both the Model X and S in the new tax credit.

Go figure.

The only way the Cybertruck can work is if it’s completely resdesigned: Car designer https://supercarblondie.com/tesla-cybertruck-needs-redesign-car-designer/ Thu, 31 Aug 2023 07:44:12 +0000 https://supercarblondie.com/?p=58647 Tesla Cybertruck

The Tesla Cybertruck needs to be scrapped and totally redesigned if it’s going to work, according to this professional car designer.

The post The only way the Cybertruck can work is if it’s completely resdesigned: Car designer appeared first on Supercar Blondie.]]>
Tesla Cybertruck

The Tesla Cybertruck needs to be scrapped and totally redesigned if it’s going to work, according to one outspoken designer.

Car designer Adrian Clarke has described the Cybertruck as “a low polygon joke that only exists in the fever dreams of Tesla fans that stands high on the smell of Elon Musk’s flatulences”.

He’s certainly not mincing his words.

READ MORE! Ford F150 Raptor and Jeep Gladiator come up against Tesla Cybertruck in new size comparisons

Speaking to Fast Company, the critic said the unique design of the Cybertruck gave the vehicle deep-rooted troubles.

Clarke said the truck would be “totally infeasible for production” because “body panel tolerances are measured in whole mm to allow for variance in assembly and the tolerance stack”.

Essentially he’s saying the vehicle is impossible to manufacture to exact measurements, in part due to thermal expansion and contraction.

Leaked images aren’t doing much to disprove his point either.

Since its reveal, the Cybertruck has been pictured with a myriad of design and quality issues like gaps and inconsistencies in the panels.

And due to the sleek, flat body panels on the EV, these are pretty hard to hide.

Elon Musk doesn’t have his head in the sand either, addressing the issue in an internal email to staff this week.

In the leaked email, Musk highlighted the need for incredibly high standards of quality when building the truck.

“Due to the nature of the Cybertruck, which is made of bright metal with mostly straight edges, any dimensional variation shows up like a sore thumb,” he said.

“All parts for the vehicle, whether internal or from suppliers, need to be designed and built to sub 10-micron accuracy.

“That means all part dimensions need to be to the third decimal place in millimeters and tolerances need to be specified in single-digit microns.”

Musk went on to say that “if LEGO and soda cans, which are very low cost, can do this, so can we”.

That’s all very well and good, but as one person from the Cybertruck Owner’s Club forum said, it wasn’t that simple.

“If all the CTs parts were either soda cans or legos this would be an easy command to obey,” he said.

Despite all the issues and naysayers, the Cybertruck is one of the most anticipated new car releases of, dare we say it, all time.

People from all corners of the world are all but throwing their money at it.

New footage shows Cybertruck’s large controversial singular wiper in action https://supercarblondie.com/tesla-cybertruck-large-windshield-wiper-in-action/ Wed, 30 Aug 2023 09:59:56 +0000 https://supercarblondie.com/?p=58596 Tesla Cybetruck monstrously large wiper in action

Despite Elon Musk saying it wouldn't make it to production, one of the latest Tesla Cybertruck prototypes is sporting virtually the same comically large wiper.

Tesla Cybetruck monstrously large wiper in action

Tesla has gotten a fair bit of stick because of the comically large windshield wiper on the Cybertruck.

And rightly so – the thing’s so monstrously large, it looks like it could be used as a weapon.

But, despite Elon Musk saying the design wouldn’t make it to production, new footage shows beta prototypes featuring the wiper in question.

READ MORE! Ford F150 Raptor and Jeep Gladiator come up against Tesla Cybertruck in new size comparisons

Tesla is now producing Cybertruck release candidates, and it appears these prototypes have virtually the same wiper that people have been complaining about.

Photographer and videographer Brad Sloan recently flew a drone over Tesla Gigafactory Texas.

The footage he captured caught a prototype Cybertruck coming out of the factory and briefly using its wiper.

One of the gripes people had about the singular wiper was that, despite its size, it looked like it couldn’t clean the passenger side of the windshield.

Tesla seems to have fixed that issue by making the large windshield wiper longer.

Yes, that’s right – even larger than it already was.

Another issue people had with the wiper was where it sits when not in use.

On a ‘normal’ vehicle, the wipers are typically tucked away under the hood when they’re not in use.

However, on the Tesla Cybertruck, the wiper sits in view on the side of the windshield when not in use.

Despite clearly aggreiving people, Tesla doesn’t seem to have taken a blind bit of notice as it’s not been moved.

The truth is, though, we’ve seen a million different versions and prototypes for the Cybertruck and each time they’re different.

YouTube Video

Maybe the singular wiper will make it to production or maybe it won’t, but if it does people will just have to learn to live with it/love it.

People are less likely to get over the fact the Cybertruck is missing one key feature they were most looking forward to, though.

Early prototypes featured a bench seat at the front, turning the offroader into a six-seater.

Elon appears to have ditched the bench seat with the latest prototypes sporting two individual seats.

All electric car, any brand and any model.

Tesla Superchargers, featured image

Elon Musk is celebrating an important Tesla anniversary by making Tesla Superchargers available for anyone to use.

Any car, Tesla or not, will be able to use Tesla’s charging points for free.

But of course, there’s a catch.

READ MORE: Man puts an engine in his Tesla and takes it for an oil change in hilarious viral video

The offer’s only available today, August 29.

Musk came up with this idea to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Tesla Superchargers in Europe.

The first one was installed in August 2013 in Norway, and the network now comprises 13,000 Superchargers across 36 countries.

Tesla is still the only car brand with its proprietary network of chargers.

EV adoption continues to face a lot of skepticism, and the availability (or lack thereof) of charging points is still one of the main reasons why would-be EV buyers hesitate.

With Tesla Superchargers, owners can use the in-built sat nav in the car to find the nearest point and calculate a route.

So just for today, August 29, anybody who owns an electric car can use a Tesla supercharger to charge their car.

Oh, and the other catch is this only applies to drivers in Europe.

How do Tesla Superchargers work?

The process is pretty straightforward.

There’s no need to carry extra plugs or sockets around because these Superchargers are compatible with any Tesla.

You just park the car next to one, plug it in and Bob’s your uncle.

Owners can keep track using the Tesla app, which shows the percentage of the charge and the time it takes to get to 100 percent in real time.

In addition to the map of the nearest Supercharger, you can also use the sat nav to learn useful information.

For example, you know in advance how many charging points are currently available.

Bearing in mind that each Supercharger is generally home to at least four or five individual charging points.
